1 PRIVATE INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRESENTATIVES OF REGIONAL GOVERNMENT A

The festival was your regional government's idea! You want it to be held in the capital: Bigsville.

The majority of the events in the festival should be produced by different groups from your region, but you realise that the other regions should be involved.

You think that the other regions should contribute the following elements:

Region B: theatre
Region C: music
Region D: food

2. PRIVATE INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRESENTATIVES OF REGIONAL GOVERNMENT B

Your regional government does not want the festival to be in Bigsville.

You do not want too much influence from Region C in the festival.

You say you want the festival in Medigrad, but really you would like it to be held in your biggest town, Microton.

3. PRIVATE INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRESENTATIVES OF REGIONAL GOVERNMENT C

Your regional government does not want the festival to be in Bigsville; you want it to be held in Medigrad. You realise, reluctantly, that you will have to co-operate with Region B on this.

You want the festival to have a very traditional character.

4. PRIVATE INSTRUCTIONS TO REPRESENTATIVES OF REGIONAL GOVERNMENT D

Your regional government does not want the festival to be in Bigsville; you want it to be held in Medigrad.

You want equal participation from each of the four regions in the festival - it is finally time for something like this to happen!

You want a modern festival.

(Note to facilitator of the game: If you want to underline further the tasks of the participants in their regional groups then the following note could prove useful)

Please Note:

You need to produce a visual presentation of your ideas for the festival. This presentation should last a maximum of 5 minutes.
If your group wants to, you can try to negotiate with the other regions before the meeting.
Please read the General Information Sheet carefully.
If you have any questions then please ask a member of the preparatory team.
This simulation can be adapted in many different ways (especially in the private instructions) depending on the issues you wish to emphasise.
